How do I heat or prepare my meals is a very common question and this article explains the most common scenarios.
Each CookUnity meal includes heating instructions on the meal label. You’ll usually find two options:
Chef Instructions — recommended by the chef for the best texture and flavor.
Fast Instructions — a quicker option, usually for microwave heating.
Always follow the instructions printed on your specific meal label, since heating times and steps may vary by dish.
Where can I find the heating instructions?
You can find heating instructions in two places:
- On the meal label
Look for the section called Chef Instructions or Fast Instructions. - By scanning the QR code on the label
The QR code will take you to more meal details, including preparation information when available.
Can I use the microwave?
Yes. Most meals include fast microwave instructions on the label.
Before microwaving, check the label for specific steps, such as whether to peel a corner of the film, vent the tray, remove sauces, or add toppings after heating.
Can I use the oven or stovetop?
Yes. Many meals include chef-recommended instructions for the oven or stovetop.
For the best experience, follow the Chef Instructions on the label. These are designed to help preserve the meal’s texture, flavor, and quality.
Can I use an air fryer or toaster oven?
You may use an air fryer or toaster oven if you prefer, but make sure to remove the meal from the original tray and transfer it to cookware that is safe for your heating method.
Do not place CookUnity’s meal tray in an air fryer or toaster oven unless the label specifically says it is safe to do so.
Should I remove the film before heating?
Follow the instructions on your meal label.
Some meals may ask you to peel a corner of the film to vent. Others may ask you to remove the film, sauce, garnish, or topping before heating. Since every dish is different, the label is the best source of truth.
What if my meal is not hot enough?
If your meal is not hot enough after following the instructions, continue heating it in short intervals until it reaches your preferred temperature.
Heating times may vary depending on your appliance.
