What happens if my payment is declined?
If your payment is declined, we’ll ask you to update your payment method so we can process your order.
To avoid missing your upcoming meals, update your payment method as soon as possible from your Wallet.
How to update your payment method
- Log in to your CookUnity account.
- Go to Wallet.
- Add or update your credit or debit card.
- Set the updated card as your default payment method.
Once your payment method is updated, we’ll attempt to process the payment again if your order is still eligible.
When will CookUnity try to charge my card again?
If your card is declined at cutoff, you can update your payment method before 5 PM local time.
We’ll attempt to process the payment one more time within that window so your order can still be confirmed for the upcoming week.
Why was my card declined?
Your card may be declined for several reasons, including:
| Possible reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| Incorrect card details | Re-enter your card information in Wallet |
| Expired card | Add a new card |
| Insufficient funds | Use a different card or contact your bank |
| Bank security block | Contact your bank to approve the charge |
| Card not set as default | Set your preferred card as the default payment method |
How do I know if my payment went through after I updated my card?
Once we successfully process your payment, you'll receive an order confirmation email. You can also check your order status directly in the app or on the website under Orders.
If you updated your card before the 5 PM retry window and don't see a confirmation email within a few hours, contact our Customer Experience team.
If the charge does not appear on your bank statement right away, allow 1–2 business days — processing times vary by bank.
I still need help
If you updated your payment method and still see an issue, we invite you to contact our Customer Experience team and include:
- The payment method you updated
- When you updated it
- Whether you received a payment error message
- The order or delivery week impacted
