You can add specific delivery instructions — including gate codes, buzzer codes, apartment access details, and drop-off preferences — directly in your account. These instructions are shared with the delivery driver for every order going to that address.
How to add or update delivery instructions
- Access Account Settings (the initials at the bottom left side)
- Go to Address Info
- To update instructions on an existing address, click edit
- From here you can select to change:
- Apt. / Suite / Office
- Delivery details
- On Delivery Options choose any of the predefined default alternatives offer by cookunity:
- Leave with the Doorman: Perfect if you live in a building with a doorman.
- Delivery to My Door: Ideal for direct hand-off at your door.
- Leave at My Door (No Human Contact): For a completely contactless delivery experience.
- Finally on Delivery Instructions where you can add more custom information like gate code or other important details. This ensures that our delivery team has all the information they need to get your meals to you safely and efficiently.
- If you don't have any specifics, click the checkbox.
- Once you are done, click confirm address.
What to include in your instructions
Be as specific as possible. Examples:
- "Gate code: 1234. Ring apartment 4B buzzer on arrival."
- "Building B entrance — use the side door, not the main lobby."
- "Call my cell if you can't get in: driver has 10 minutes at each stop."
When do instruction updates take effect?
Updates to delivery instructions apply to future orders placed after the change is saved. They do not apply to orders that are already confirmed or processed.
If your order is already confirmed or charged and you need to update access details for an active delivery, contact our Customer Experience team. We can attempt to relay the information to our delivery partner — but note that we cannot change the delivery address, reschedule, or guarantee specific delivery windows.
My driver didn't follow my gate code or instructions
Instructions are passed to the driver, but there are situations where they may not be followed or visible at the time of delivery. If your driver didn't use your access information and your delivery failed or was left in the wrong place, see The driver couldn't access my building — what happens?
