Every CookUnity meal includes a standard allergen label on its packaging. This label shows two things: the ingredients that meal directly contains, and a general notice about the production facility.
The facility notice reads:
"CookUnity food items may contain or may have been manufactured in a facility that also processes: milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat/gluten, soy and sesame."
This statement appears on all CookUnity meals. CookUnity is not a certified allergen-free or allergen-controlled facility. Our meals are prepared by independent chefs in their own production kitchens, and we cannot guarantee that any meal is fully free from trace cross-contamination of the allergens listed above.
Even if you have set an allergy in your Taste Profile, the facility cross-contamination risk cannot be filtered or guaranteed away. Your profile settings reduce the likelihood of receiving meals where that allergen appears as a direct ingredient — they do not eliminate facility-level trace exposure.
How do the allergen label sections work?
Your meal label includes:
- "Contains [allergen]" — This means that allergen is a direct ingredient in this specific meal.
- "May contain or may have been manufactured in a facility that also processes..." — This is a standard facility notice that appears on all CookUnity meals. It reflects that the production environment handles these ingredients, regardless of what is in your specific meal.
Both sections are important. If either applies to your allergen, treat the meal accordingly.
What should I do if I received a meal I shouldn't have?
If you received a meal that contains a direct ingredient you listed as an allergy in your Taste Profile, contact our Customer Experience team. Please include:
- The meal name and order date
- Your allergy as listed in your Taste Profile
